The Victorian government has released the Eaglehawk Station Precinct Master Plan to the public for comment.
Member for Bendigo East and Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, said the plan sets out a blueprint for future development
“We’re boosting services and improving Eaglehawk station in the short term, while we work with Council and the community on a long-term vision for the station and surrounding areas,” Allan said.
“Bendigo is growing and we are investing for that growth, ordering new trains, upgrading stations, and delivering more services, so it’s quicker and easier to catch the train and get home.”
The release comes weeks before the start of the Bendigo Metro, in addition to extra services to Eaglehawk Station.
The Master Plan outlines design, land use and infrastructure improvements for the precinct, as well as better pedestrian connections.
Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards, said the Master Plan was developed by the City of Greater Bendigo.
“This is a blueprint for a better Eaglehawk Station that is ready for more services as the community grows,” Edwards said.
“It’s part of our long-term plan for better public transport in Bendigo and across regional Victoria, where trains, buses and coaches work together to get people where they need to go.”
$15.8 million has been allocated towards the improvements.
