The Victorian government has announced the construction of 100 new car parks at Kyneton Station.
Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, said the funding for the project came as part of the Victorian Budget 2016/17.
“This critical investment in services and car parks will reduce the daily scramble to get to work or school, and mean more choice for more local passengers about how they get around,” Allan said.
“The Andrews Labor government is investing more than a billion dollar in better public transport for Kyneton, Gisborne and across regional Victoria – we’re getting it done.”
In addition to the development, the government will also deliver four extra services off peak for the rail line.
Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, said up to 40 extra spaces will be developed at Gisborne Station.
“More and more people are catching the train to work, which is putting massive pressure on car parking at Kyneton, Gisborne and Woodend Stations,” Thomas said.
“The Andrews Labor government is delivering the major public transport projects our network needs, and making the small local improvements that make a big difference to people’s day-to-day lives.”
More than $198 million has been dedicated towards regional train services.
